An 80-year-old grandma from a small town of Dezhou, China is still hard at work to support her 58-year-old son who has Down syndrome. After her husband passed away due to a heart attack 20 years ago, Lee Ming had to step up as the sole breadwinner of the family.
Every day at the crack of dawn, she heads out the door in a Mickey Mouse costume. She makes her way to a park located 3 miles away by foot. Rain or shine, she waits for visitors who wants a picture with her, charging them 5 yuan ($0.71) each.
Taking photos, posing and talking to kids is all in a day’s work for her but little do people know, underneath that Mickey Mouse costume is a frail old woman.
Enduring the heat and standing all day long is hard enough for any youngster, let alone an 80-year-old grandma. No doubt, the job is taxing on her aging body but with no other means to support her family, she’s forced to put up with the pain.
